
Shiatsu is a form of traditional Japanese medicine used to treat and prevent ailments. Shiatsu literally means "finger pressure" and is performed by applying pressure with the fingers to special points on the body. These points influence the meridians of Chi or Ki.
Shiatsu can help with a number of ailments. But more than that Shiatsu can also be a preventive medicine, helping to relieve problems before they start or become an issue. Common conditions which can be helped by Shiatsu include:

Shiatsu is a hands-on form of medicine, unlike say acupuncture. Each session lasts for about an hour and is performed on a massage table. The first session may take longer as the therapist will try to get a complete picture of your medical health.
Some shiatsu can be uncomfortable, but it should not hurt. People react differently to Shiatsu. Some individuals may feel an increased vitality as the Chi/Ki flows more freely though their bodies, while other may feel relaxed, sleepy and drowsy. This drowsiness passes after a period of rest.
